Wedding Party Vendors - How to Find Them, How to Hire Them
Hiring wedding party vendors can be daunting to any bride or groom. You may need
a photographer, caterer, florist and disc jockey. We have put together a brief
list of questions to ask your wedding party vendors, as well as ways to find the
best vendors in your local area.
Questions/tips when finding wedding party vendors:
1. Get matched. You can find out about a variety of local wedding party vendors
in your area.
2. Get referrals. Ask friends, colleagues and family members in your local area
if they have had good experiences with the wedding party vendors you have been
matched with in the link above. You may also ask the wedding party vendors themselves
for references.
3. Schedule an interview. Once you have narrowed down the list of potential
wedding party vendors, set up interviews with the top candidates. Nothing can
tell you how you will be able to work with someone better than an in-person
interview.
4. Ask. Find our how long the wedding party vendors have been in business, do
they have a license, how many clients they have served, whether they are familiar
with the venues you have chosen, whether they specialize in a certain type of
cuisine/photography/floral arrangement, do they have any guarantees, etc. Do
not be afraid to ask any questions you can think of – this is your wedding.
5. Hire. Once you have made your decision on which wedding party vendors with
whom you would like to work, insist on a written contract and read all the fine
print.
6. Follow up. Once you have signed contacts with your wedding party vendors,
keep in touch with them up until the day of your wedding. Call them with questions
and be sure to communicate any changes that will affect their job on our wedding
day.
